Businessman Boanas strides again
Hull businessman Graham Boanas to run world record swimming pool marathon for charity.
Local business owner Graham Boanas will attempt a world record swimming pool marathon this year to raise money for skin disease charity Debra.
The founder and Director of Hull company PowerPlus Group is running the marathon in the swimming pool at The Village Hotel Hull on 25th April.
This latest challenge follows a well-publicised wade across the River Humber in 2005 and other daring feats such as crossing the Humber under water in 2006 and crossing 3 rivers in one day in 2007.
To raise money for the charity Debra he is looking for people to sponsor his attempt. Not only this but he is inviting some sponsors to join him for a mile.
The gruelling challenge, which if completed will be a world record, will involve 57? year old Graham running 1680 lengths of the 25-meter-long pool.
It’s estimated that it will take somewhere between 17-18 hours to complete. He will do 100,000 steps and burn 9,000 calories.
The reason for the challenge is to raise money for Debra, a charity who support those suffering with EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa). This is a group of conditions which cause the skin to blister and tear to varying degrees of severity and affects 500,000 people worldwide.
The Hull businessman has raised over £100,000 for the charity from his previous river crossing challenges.
Anyone can sponsor Graham on his JustGiving page … or dedicated website GrahamBoanas.com and he is looking for companies to get involved and sponsor a mile of the marathon.
He is also asking those companies to nominate an employee to do that mile with him. The fastest to complete a mile will win an award.
